Product Q&A
Q
I ordered your heavy duty 1020 trays and received them. Are they uv proof and do they come any heavier and/or bigger? We are using on green roof.
A
The Heavy Duty 1020 Trays are not UV protected. We would suggest looking at some of the Garland Trays that are offered on our website should you require heavier/larger sized trays for your growing needs.
Q
What is the recycling code for your heavy duty trays?
A
The Heavy Duty 1020 Trays have a #6 recycling code.
Q
Are these trays safe to use for vermicomposting over long periods of time? Is there a risk of plastic chemicals leaking into the vermiculture?
A
The Heavy Duty 1020 Trays are made of recycle code #6 Polystyrene and are listed as being BPA free, however, using them over long periods of time in warmer temperatures could see some leaching due to the materials that they are made of and the overall condition of the trays. We would suggest using some of the different Garland Trays for vermicomposting as they are made of recycle code #5 Polypropylene and should not experience any chemical leaching.
Q
I'm looking to sprout grains for our goats, rabbits and chickens. Would these trays be suitable for that purpose or is there a better choice available?
A
Our master gardener stated that the 1020 Trays - Heavy Duty would be ideal for use in this application.
