The Rearend Ruler - Dana 60 Measuring Tool - Determine Axle Lengths Easily

Description

This tool allows you to make critical measurements on your Dana 60 front and rear axles by locating the correct centerlines or inner axle point.
You simply bolt the Rearend Ruler in place over where four of the cover bolts on your bare housing and then hook your tape measure in the appropriate slot to make and take measurements. (use bolts and spacers included) On Dana 60 high pinion front axles you will need to flip the Rearend Ruler upside down.
The Rearend Ruler has the following slots or cut-outs………
AXLE C/L
– This half moon shaped cut-out represents the axle centerline of the housing.
Pinion C/L
– This quarter moon shaped cut-out represents the pinion or yoke location.
Pinion C/L
– This slot represents the pinion or yoke centerline at the axle centerline. If you are building a ‘Centered Pinion’ rearend housing, you would use this slot.
Housing C/L
– This slot represents the housing centerline. If you are building a ‘Centered Housing’ rearend you would use this slot. This slot is also the differential centerline. If you wanted to build a rearend with both axles the same length you would use this slot.
P/S Axle

D/S Axle
– These two slots allow you to determine the axle length required if you have a finished housing. You would hook your tape measure in the appropriate slot and measure to the end of housing. Then add the ‘Brake Offset’ you are using. The ‘Brake Offset’ is the distance from the housing end to where your wheel bolts on. The most common brake offset for the Dana 60 rearend is 2.36”, although measure yours before you start to verify what you have. Front axles, ¾” ton and 1 ton axles may vary.
